What to Take Into Account as You Design a PVC Banner

by Judith Yeoh

Doing a good job in designing a banner is just as important as choosing the perfect material for it.

If you are planning to advertise outdoors with a banner, then it is highly advisable to choose the PVC material because it is one of the best materials you can choose for outdoor banner since it can really withstand practically any kind of conditions outdoors, even if it is rough, such as in Singapore’s tropic climate.

Now, when it comes to the design, there are several things that you need to consider as you try to come up with a design of a banner. Keep in mind that the core purpose of a banner is to deliver the promotional message effectively. In order to do that, it needs to first be attractive enough to grab people’s attention. Banner printing in Singapore is very easy, but the requirements of the designing process can be confusing. Here are some tips so that you can create great banner designs:

1. Color

You can use any kind of color for your banner because of course there are no restrictions on what colors that are okay to use and what colors that are not. However, some are perhaps more effective compared to the others due to the fact that they look more vibrant and interesting. Choosing vivid colors that are bright and attractive can really help you to grab people’s attention as they pass your banner by. If you take a look at most of the banners along busy shopping streets such as Orchard Road, you will notice that they are generally very bright, which will help them stand out more among the many advertisements. It is one of the easiest ways to make it an attractive banner.

It is also important to remember that you should design your banner using CMYK colors instead of RGB so that later on during the printing process you won’t get colors that look slightly different compared to what you see on your monitor. It is because RGB colors tend to appear brighter yet they result in slightly darker colors upon CMYK printing. That’s why, make sure you design in CMYK and print using the same color processing as well.

2. Resolution

You have to design your banner in at least 300 dpi to get a high quality result upon printing even if you print the largest banner possible. This resolution is sure to maintain the quality of design including graphics and images used in it and make sure that you can get a sharp looking banner no matter the size of it. In a metropolitan city like Singapore, with many businesses advertising their goods and services, you need your banner to be high quality to stand out. A low quality banner will be dismissed by the majority of readers.

3. Content

The content of the banner is really important if not the most important in catching the attention of people who pass by and convince them into what you are promoting with your PVC banner. In order to make sure that it is effective, you should make your banner content simple and concise while maintaining clear message delivery. This way, your banner can be effective and reach a large audience because they can easily understand what is conveyed with the banner. To make sure that it looks nice, it is better to keep the content of the banner away from the sides of the banner to avoid it from getting cut upon printing. Keeping the content closer to the middle also makes it easier for people to read your banner.
